Plant Name: Wild Daffodil (Lent lily)

Latin Name: Narcissus pseudonarcissus Lobularis (Note - some may refer to Narcissus pseudonarcissus spp. pseudonarcissus)

Description: Also known as Lent Lily or Easter Lily this native wild daffodil is still found in native woodlands across the UK. Some areas have seen a decline in numbers due to woodland clearance or changes in woodland management. Help turn back this decline by planting our native wild daffodil in your space and hopefully return our woods and open spaces to once again as William Wordsworth wrote: "when all at once I saw a crowd, A host of golden daffodils".

Flowering Times: March-April

Flower Colour: Lemon Yellow petals with a darker yellow trumpet (Note-There are slight variations of this around the UK but the light yellow petals, which are twisted are usually always present).

Height: Plant stalk is 20-30cm

Management: Wild daffodils will thrive in partial shade of damp woodlands, banks and orchards. They will cope in open grasslands if the grass is cut short following flowering and setting seed. Cutting daffodils too early will weaken the bulbs.
